Stijn once said in an interview: “I sometimes wonder what our employees think when they hear us working.” Well, we will let those employees have their say. Stephanos and Pieter are the first two employees of Tricore. As System Engineers, they were versatile from day one, both for the service desk and in projects. They had the right qualities to grow along with this young IT company, and they certainly did.
Raïsa from Mast Agency invited Stephanos and Pieter for a refreshing Vedett, a nice chat, and a walk through the city. They talk about their 2 years of work experience at Tricore, the ‘work hard play hard’ mentality, and they even compliment each other. Speaking of bromance at work.
Hello Stephanos and Pieter. Tell us, what are your daily activities at Tricore?
Pieter: “Everything. On one hand, I am responsible for supporting advanced IT issues, also known as ‘Third-Line Support’. On a project basis, they also involve me in the storage and server for our clients.”
Steph: “At the moment, I am growing in the role of Operations Manager where I maintain a global overview of what all the technical colleagues are working on.”

“I can develop myself in my interests.”
You talk about professional growth and more responsibilities. How has that been for you?
Pieter: “In the semi-annual evaluation meetings, they inquire about your strengths and interests. I am interested in server and storage, so they have involved me in projects to carry out those installations. I have thus been given the opportunity to develop myself in my interests.”
Steph: “Pieter and I have both taken on more responsibility. Robin, Stijn, and Jonas (the founders of Tricore) know what our strengths are and they encourage us to specialize in those areas. Tricore is growing, and we are growing with it.”
When you describe Tricore to your friends, what words do you use?
Pieter: “A stocked fridge in the break room.”
Steph: “Nice atmosphere, good bosses, and when I think of the nice evenings at the office, there is a laid-back vibe, even though it’s about work. During work hours, we work hard and occasionally have a good laugh, but what needs to be done, needs to be done.”
Pieter: “The ‘work hard play hard’ mentality.”
Steph: “Voila, you couldn't say it better.”

Time for a round of compliments: Stephanos, what do you think Pieter does well?
Steph: “When you ask Pieter to do something, you know it will be done well. Even if he doesn't know the solution (yet), he will make sure the problem is solved. Whatever he does, he does it well.
Pieter, what do you think Steph does well?
Pieter: “He can explain things well. That's an important trait for dealing with customers. When he has to solve a problem on site, he always figures it out.”
What qualities does someone need to work at Tricore?
Steph: “What is especially very important: the person must fit into the team.”
Pieter: “And really go for the work. No 9 to 5 mentality. If an issue comes in at 5 to 5, you solve it.”
Steph: “Just go for it and realize that you represent Tricore yourself.”
“Robin will make sure the ice is broken, you don't need the sun for that.”

You are a very close-knit team. Is it easy for a new employee to find their way?
Pieter: “Robin ensures that someone feels at home quickly.”
Steph: “Yes, he has a great sense of how to interact with someone.”
What is the biggest advantage of working at Tricore?
Pieter: “Growth opportunities. It's a nice bonus that you have a good future perspective.”
Steph: “Definitely. You can grow in your talents, express and realize your ambitions. And the fact that you are in direct contact with your supervisors means you are being listened to.”
People who are still unsure should apply because:
Steph: “Tricore is the place to be right.”
Pieter: “We are still looking for people!”
Steph: “And why… You get great opportunities, you end up in a nice work atmosphere with great colleagues.”
Just a quick round of questions to wrap up. Fill in…
My favorite place in the office is…
Pieter and Steph in unison: “The relaxation area!”
Steph: “And maybe a bit more specifically, behind the Playstation.”
Pieter: ‘“I prefer to play darts.”
Your morning starts well when…
Pieter: “There are enough clean mugs in the cupboard. Otherwise, I drink my coffee from a whiskey glass.”
Steph: “I haven't hit traffic. Grab a coffee at the office, a cookie on the side, and then get started.”
On Fridays we drink…
Pieter: “Hapkin.”
Steph: “A La Chouffeke.”

Your best memory at Tricore is…
Steph: “The first major client we signed when I had just started at Tricore. That was satisfying. And the first Christmas party was actually nice too.”
Pieter: “I also really enjoyed the Christmas party during the second lockdown. Jonas, Robin, and Stijn went to visit everyone at home to deliver a beer basket and a cheese platter. Everything had to be done remotely at that time, so we did a digital escape room via Teams in the evening. That was a very nice evening.”
Well, we think the message is clear. If you want to work in a young IT company with growth opportunities AND a full fridge AND nice colleagues. Then you should apply at Tricore.
They are still looking for people! 👇
